A Message From the Founder
"Hi everyone! Dia here! I'm the founder and owner of SKIVVI. I came up with the idea to start a lingerie line last year when the pandemic was at its absolute peak. I was always looking for comfortable clothing and underwear to wear at home. But I realized that every comfortable piece I owned was super boring and bland, meanwhile every sexy and cute item was unbearably uncomfortable. As cliche as it sounds, I had an epiphany to start an underwear line of my own.Â
I've always been super creative and entrepreneurial. During my first two years of high school I hosted several fashion shows, started a small fashion blog, and got into micro influencing. Soon enough, I began toying with the idea of starting a business. And I started several. First it was a stationary line, then an online clothing boutique called Ruled By Her, then a monetized podcast, and then...nothing at all. It seemed that every little idea grew stale or I lost all interest entirely. I took a long break and focused on school and work. The idea of starting another business truly scared me, as I felt like I struggled to stick to a single idea and just go with it. But when I realized that I wanted to create a lingerie collection, I felt a different kind of excitement, the kind where passion completely takes over.
Some will ask me, "why underwear?", and my response is always the same. To me, underwear is a woman's underlying armor of confidence and self-love. It's the first layer of fabric we put on our body as we get ready, and to me, reflects the way we feel about ourselves. As a smaller breasted girl, I never felt like I could "fill out" lingerie or bras, so I had to settle for something too big or nothing at all. But when designing for SKIVVI, I had a goal to create garments that hugged the body in all the right places, minus the pads, poor fit, and discomfort. I wanted to make women feel sexy and beautiful without having to sacrifice comfort.
Now months into business, I have never felt so proud of myself. Our online shop is live and running, and continues to be the center of the business. But now, we're opening a new chapter of SKIVVI, and the first step is this blog. This is a place for conversations to start and a community to grow, and I sure hope that you're as excited as I am!🤍 " -Dia Gauthier
